On behalf of the Crown Council of Ethiopia, I would like to express our deepest condolences for the loss of life and injuries that occurred on August 3, 2026, when a landslide occurred in Northern Shewa, in the Mojja and Wedera District, at the Debre Mitmak Tsadkane St. Mary’s Monastery. Sadly, fourteen lives were lost, and seven people received serious and minor injuries. The Crown Council shares in the shock and sorrow of those who are bereaved and the injured that this disaster occurs just days before the beginning of the Filseta Fast marking the Assumption of St. Mary. We wish a swift recovery to the injured, and pray that God consoles those who mourn, and grants rest to the souls of the departed.
May God protect Ethiopia.
ሐምሌ ፳፯ ቀን ፳፻፲፰ ዓም በሰሜን ሸዋ በሞጃ እና ወደራ ወረዳ በደብረ ምጥማቅ ጻድቃኔ ቅድስት ማርያም ገዳም በተከሰተው የመሬት መንሸራተት አደጋ ፲፬ ስው ሕይወታቸውን በማጣታቸው እና ሰባት ሰዎች ከባድና መለስተኛ የአካል ጉዳት ስለ ደረሰባቸው በኢትዮጵያ ዘውድ ምክር ቤት ስም የተሰማንን ታላቅ ሐዘን ልንገልጽ እንወዳለን። ይህ ድንገተኛ አደጋ የፍልሰታ ጾም በጥቂት ቀን ሊገባ ሲል በመከሰቶ ብዙ ምእመናንን በማስደንገጡ እና ሐዘን ላይ በመጣሉ የዘውድ ምክር ቤቱ የሐዘኑ ተካፋይ መሆኑን ሊያሳውቅ ይወዳል። ለተጎዱት እና ለአዘኑት እግዚአብሔር ብርታቱንና ጽናቱን እንዲሰጥልን፥ ለሞቱትም አረፍተ ነፍስን እንዲሰጥልን ጸሎታችን ነው።
